Imran Shahzad And Abdul Sattar- Suffered Shock Defeats On The Opening Day

KARACHI: Two top seeded cueists — Imran Shahzad and Abdul Sattar — suffered shock defeats on the opening day of the third ranking snooker championship which commenced at the Karachi Gymkhana on Sunday.

Pakistan No 1 and top seed Imran from Punjab lost to little known and last-minute inclusion Farrukh Usman of Sindh 1-4 in the opener. The latter was home 77-16, 60-16, 35-52, 68-41, 47-15.

In the second upset, sixth seed Abdul Sattar went down 2-4 to former national champion Khurram Agha. Khurram won the battle 55-31, 25-56, 52-63, 70-34, 63-5, 73-24.

In a late development, two Sindh cueists — Javed Ansari and Farrukh Usman — were inducted at the expense of Rambel Gul and Farhan Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa respectively following their dropouts.

Meanwhile, in a surprise development, the PBSA has also revised all the groups which were released three days back and the media was not duly informed about the changes.
