A Man Displays The Custodial Sentences Received By The Three Cricketers

LAHORE: If sentences by a London court were not enough, a Lahore district and sessions court judge also ordered on Thursday the local police authorities to ‘act in accordance with law’ on a petition seeking criminal charges against the disgraced trio of Pakistani cricketers.

Judge Mujahid Mustaqeem passes the orders on a petition by advocate Zubair Bulqan who sought cases against Salman Butt, Muhammad Amir and Muhammad Asif for tarnishing the “image of Pakistan” through spot-fixing.

The judge ordered the Islampura station house officer to act in accordance with law to register a criminal case against the disgraced trio of Pakistani cricketers if any cognizable offence was made out against them after being guilty in the spot fixing case.

The petitioner said he had filed an application with the Islampura police for the registration of a case against the players but the SHO refused. SP Anwar Khetran said they would seek the opinion of the legal department on the plea.

Another lawyer Ishtiaq Chaudhry also filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking the confiscation of assets of the three cricket players.

He also said a case should be registered against them for committing criminal breach of trust as they shattered the trust of whole nation.
