Jean Tigana Has Been Appointed Coach Of Shanghai Shenhua

Former France international Jean Tigana has been appointed coach of Shanghai Shenhua, the Chinese Super League club have confirmed on their website.

Tigana has had a varied coaching career, starting off at French side Lyon in 1993.

After two years there, he moved on to Monaco where he led them to the French championship and Super Cup before moving to Fulham.

Tigana guided the west London side to promotion to the top flight but left Craven Cottage under a cloud in 2003.

A two-year spell from 2005-2007 at Besiktas followed before he returned to France and Bordeaux in 2010 to replace Laurent Blanc.

However, Tigana resigned following a home defeat in May 2011 by Sochaux, citing verbal abuse aimed at his teenage daughter.

Fellow Frenchman Nicolas Anelka will play under Tigana and is due to arrive in China next month after leaving Premier League side Chelsea.
